The journey to where I am today has been a long and exciting one. Keep reading to follow my path and see some of the highlights along the way. Feel free to skip ahead to future years to see my most recent accomplishments.
German Immersion
In search of growth and development, I pursued a full time internship position at Willtek Communications in Munich, Germany. Over my four months working with the Quality Control team, I was able to research, create, distribute and analyze a worldwide satisfaction assessment to evaluate overall competitiveness in the global market. I immersed myself in the culture, learned some German and discovered how fantastic a freshly baked pretzel is for breakfast. drei Brezeln für einen Euro!
Graphic Design Foundations
Copywriter & Graphic Designer / 2006-2007
At The New York Group, I played an instrumental role in conceptualizing and implementing marketing and advertising campaigns as well as strategic initiatives that were responsible for maintaining our clients’ positions at the very top of their industries. I was also part of the marketing team responsible for securing one of the first smart® automobile dealerships in the United States.
* This is where my passion for Graphic Design started.
Freelance & Soul Searching
I made the decision to continue on my journey and part with The New York Group. After that role, I took time to evaluate my next steps and further develop my skills through various freelance design projects. During this time, meetkevinmiller.com was born, and I began to create and foster my personal brand and identity.
My KCM Journey Begins
The Startup Story
After a period of full time freelance work, the founder and I came together to pursue this idea and business full time. I was hired as employee number one to create and develop the brand, support the operations and national speaking side of the business, and build a successful, recurring product offering. No promise of pay or success and all from a fold up table in a garage. Who knew it would be the birth of something amazing that has went on to impact so many people.
* For the first time in my professional career, I felt like I was in a position to really step up and have an impact.
Enhanced Support
Along with the growing number of Members, the need for enhanced customer service and support was larger than ever. To continue our commitment to our Member experience, I launched a full service knowledgebase and ticket system via Zendesk to provide more organized and efficient support. Now Members could access the information they needed, when they needed it, while allowing us to provide same day support to our then 2,000 Members with only a single support person. It was a major step in setting us up for scaling.
Title Change
With my focus solely on our Members and retention, I evolved into a new role and responsibility. As VP of Customer Experience, I was now responsible for the retention of Members and providing a positive experience with both our product and brand. This is where I framed the CX department in the company and aimed to provide more proactive support and offerings.
Certified Dreamer
Educated & Trained
In further pursuit of helping my team and KCM, I completed a multiple day leadership educational program. The Dream Manager approach helps people work together to achieve both company objectives and personal dreams. This mindset drives a team to actively engage in the workplace while passionately helping an organization build towards their Vision.
Clarity & Alignment
With the team being 12 strong now and growing quickly, myself and the leadership team established our Vision and Core Values. A major propeller of the growth to come, and a monumental moment in our history. This allowed us to be very clear about what we were working towards, and what is meant to be a part of the team.
Chief Brand Officer
I evolved into another role and responsibility at KCM. With the fast growth we were experiencing, it was important to maintain consistency and quality to what we do. With the many content creators we now had and increased need for graphic execution, I took on the role of Chief Brand Officer to manage and maintain our identity while continuing to grow and expand our offerings. I still led the Customer Experience department and expanded the focus to provide and enhanced experience to our visual offerings and interactions as well. One of the first tasks was re-branding, updating our website and creating brand and content guidelines to use as tools moving forward.
